Lyudinovsky Locomotive Plant gets its TEM9 certified

August 25, 2014. Lyudinovsky Locomotive Plant (LTZ, a member enterprise of Sinara Transport Machines Holding) received a new compliance certificate issued by the certification register for federal railway transport for its TEM9 locomotive, the enterprise’s press service reports.

Based on the successful trial runs, Certification Register for Federal Railway Transport Federal Budget Enterprise decided to issue the certificate of compliance for the plant’s pilot set of 23 TEM9 locos.

The certificate confirms that TEM9 meets all the safety requirements and allows the loco to be used on 1,520mm railways in Russia and the CIS member states.

‘The loco is fitted with a new diesel generator with improved operational and environmental characteristics and with a new traction unit as well as a microprocessor-based control, operation, and diagnostics system; the operator’s cabin was designed with all the current safety, working conditions, and ergonomics requirements in mind, which makes the operation and maintenance of the machine much more efficient,’ the company’s press service says.

Now the TEM9 loco has been produced at LTZ since 2009. The loco is meant for shunting operations and clean-up on the 1,520mm railways and railways located on the premises of industrial enterprises. Among the key customers for the loco are ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgical enterprises, the chemical industry sector, the energy sector enterprises, defense enterprises, and builders and developers.
