July 15, 2014. Uralvagonzavod Scientific and Production Corporation presented a life-size sample of its upgraded T-72 tank and other military developments at MILEX 2014 Exhibition in Minsk.
According to the corporation's press service, on the first day of the exhibition the Russian holding's stand was visited by Byelorussia's Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovitch.
'The official paid the greatest attention to a life-size sample of our upgraded T-72 tank. The corporation's special representative for military and technical cooperation Alexei Maslov told the Prime Minister everything about the advantages of this modernized tank designed by engineers from UKBTM (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation),' the press service says.
The upgraded T-72 was designed within the framework of a modernization program and has enhanced fire power, protection, maneuverability, and multi-operator manageability properties. Its operational and physical characteristics are those of a third-generation tank.
The Republic of Byelorussia's Defense Minister Yuri Zhadobin attended the corporation's stand as well. He took part in negotiations on the possibility of working together on modernization of T-72 tanks that are currently used by Byelorussia's Armed Forces.
Among Uralvagonzavod's other exhibits at MILEX 2014 were models of T-90 and T-72 tanks, Terminator (a tank support combat vehicle) and of engineering vehicles such as the bridge-laying vehicle MTU-72 and the obstacle removal vehicle IMR-3M.
