July 4, 2014. The innovative tramways made at a joint venture run by Uralvagonzavod Corporation and the Polish company PESA are now undergoing the final testing stage: the trams are currently used in Moscow and travel along Route 6, from Bratsevo to Sokol Underground Station, says Moscow Transport Infrastructure Department.
Not a single problem was observed during the testing stage: the new tram’s performance is flawless.
In the meanwhile, passengers on Route 6 are already commenting on the increased comfort the new tram offers: MosGorTrans has been receiving thank-you notes from passengers. Over 45,000 residents of Moscow use this route daily, and they give positive estimates to the design of the trams, to the organization of space inside, and to the thought given to the needs of mobile impaired passengers. They also comment on the noiseless and smooth movements of the trams and the modern climate control system.
Now the first new-generation trams made by Uralvagonzavod Corporation and PESA hit the rails on June 1, 2014 for the final operational testing stage. At the end of the testing period, the final decision to use or not to use these trams in the capital will be made. A new set of trams will actually be delivered to Moscow as well – 65 more trams made at the joint venture will arrive in the capital before the end of the year.
