May 28, 2014. UEKhK (a member enterprise of Rosatom’s TVEL in Novouralsk) launced new, microprocessor-based equipment at its grid and substation department in April 2014. This equipment will ensure more reliable, more fire-secure, and greener operation of the electric units, the enterprise’s press service reports.
According to the power engineer from Department 101 Galina Semenenko, the microprocessor-based fiber optic arc barrier devices and the incoming cubicles with vacuum circuit breakers and microprocessor protection and automation systems that came to replace the obsolete oil break switches and electrical-mechanical relay-based protection devices at the substations of Industrial Site 6 differ advantageously from their older counterparts in many respects.
All this large-scale replacement work was part of the company’s investment program on the technical upgrade of power facilities and infrastructure adopted for 2014-2024. The replacements took a year to complete and were made possible thanks to the efforts of two divisions of Department 101 – the O&M division and the relay protection and controls division.
