May 16, 2014. Sverdlovsk Region public prosecution authorities detected over 130 violations of the immigration law in the three months of 2014; these offenses were committed by administrative office holders and legal entities, Senior Public Prosecutor of Sverdlovsk Region Department for Surveillance over Compliance with the Federal Legislation & Citizens’ Rights & Freedoms Natalya Pelevina said at a recent press conference.

To eliminate these violations, 18 protests and 24 administrative reports were submitted, with 20 people facing administrative liability and ten cases placed with the investigative authorities.

‘Employers that violate the law when using foreign workers for their business were found almost everywhere in Sverdlovsk Region. These violations do damage to the state, as the government does not get the tax revenue which is its legal due. Besides, the illegal use of cheap migrant labor brings the prices of local labor down,’ Pelevina observed.
