April 8, 2014. Photographs from the archive of Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant Museum (the plant, known as ChTZ, is a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation), are going to be on display at an international exhibition in Italy.

According to the corporation's press service, the research work that these photographs depict is going to be presented in Venice by a student from Boston Irina Chernyakova.

'This MIT student, who studied the history of the architectural movement called constructivism, asked ChTZ management for the photographic materials she needed. She was particularly interested in the shots that were published by an American researcher Sofia Melnikova-Ray relatively recently,' the press service says.

Sofia made a cooperation proposal to the plant museum workers three years ago. As a result, she obtained and later published a number of photographs from the archive that portrayed the step-by-step construction of the enterprise.

'The researcher's interest in the epoch of the thirties and the architectural trends in the USSR and the States was no coincidence. Her great-grandfather worked for a company run by Albert Kahn, one of the 20th century's most prominent industrial architects, who contributed to designing over 500 major buildings in the USSR and therefore to the development of the Soviet heavy industry. ChTZ General Plan was also designed with some support from his company,' the press service says.
