Mid-Urals hotel network ready for World Cup 2018

February 21, 2014. There are currently 412 hotels in Sverdlovsk Region with a total of 14,256 rooms, which means the area is already prepared, in terms of quantity, to host large-scale international competitions, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region's Information Policies Department reports.

Under the FIFA requirements, Sverdlovsk Region must be able to provide 7,700 hotel rooms for the Mundial players and supporters, including 1,700 rooms for the accredited representatives. The hotels must be two- to five-star ones, and to make sure the guests get good service, the hotels must have enough employees who speak at least conversational English and have the right skills for the job.

According to the department head of Sverdlovsk Region Agriculture & Food Ministry Olga Mekerova, enhancing the quality of service is the main task at the moment. There are currently 37 starred accommodation facilities in Sverdlovsk Region, including two five-star hotels, 11 four-star hotels, 19 three-star hotels, 3 two-star hotels, and 2 mini-hotels.

'At least 180 hotels have to get starred by 2018. These are first and foremost Yekaterinburg-based hotels, and those located within 100 km of the contest locations, in cities such as Sysert, Sredneuralsk, Sukhoi Log, Zarechny, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Berezovsky, Polevskoy, Revda, Pervouralsk, Nevyansk, Rezh, Nizhniy Tagil, Beloyarsky, and Kamensk-Uralsky. This means Sverdlovsk Region is prepared, in terms of the number of rooms, to host the visitors to the world football championship,' Mekerova said.
