WANO to do pre-launch testing of Power Generating Unit 4 at Beloyarskaya Nuclear Power Station

February 13, 2014. Beloyarskaya Nuclear Power Station's partners from the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) embarked on the pre-launch testing of Power Generating Unit 4 and the BN-800 reactor on February 10, 2014, the nuclear power station's information and PR department reports.
The testing team comprises representatives of the WANO Hong Kong office for pre-launch partnership testing, Moscow office, and Russian, French, and Ukrainian nuclear power stations.
Experts are currently looking into the following: organization and administration of the production process, operation & maintenance, repairs, engineer support, radiological safety, operation record, chemical support, personnel training and qualifications, fire safety, and preparedness for emergencies.
The pre-launch partnership testing will be completed on February 21, 2014.
'The WANO pre-launch partnership tests are voluntary. Stations have recently started inviting international experts to do the pre-launch partnership testing of the nuclear power-generating units that are about to be launched. This tests make it possible to adopt the best international standards and practices as early as at the pre-launch stage,' the nuclear power station's information and PR department reports.
