UEKhK employees take part in Olympic Torch relay in Yekaterinburg

December 19, 2013. Two employees of UEKhK (a member enterprise of Rosatom’s TVEL based in Novouralsk, Sverdlovsk Region) – master of sports in mountain skiing Tatiana Burdina and deserved Russia’s master of sports and world champion in power lifting Sergey Knyazev took part in the Olympic Torch relay in Yekaterinburg on December 14, the company’s press service reports.
The nuclear industry workers from Novouralsk were among 300 relay participants who carried the future fire of the Sochi Olympics along the streets of Yekaterinburg. The radar operator of the plant’s Central Lab Tatiana Burdina’s leg of the relay went along Makarovsky Bridge and Chelyuskintsev St. It was here that her family, her relatives, and her coach from Burevestnik Sports Club came to support her.
After she had transferred the torch to the next participant, Tatiana admitted she was very nervous.
‘This is an indescribable feeling! I am proud of the Urals and of my country and I am happy to be a part of such great ceremony. I thank my family for support and Rosatom for giving me this unique opportunity,’ she said.
The company’s engineer from Department 10 Sergey Knyazev took over the relay in the evening.
