5 December 2013 (13:47)

December 5, 2013. 3.46bn RUR will be allocated from Sverdlovsk Region's budget to develop the local agricultural enterprises in 2014 (compared with 3.28bn RUR in 203). According to the Agriculture Minister, the money will primarily be directed to support the local agricultural industry's key sector: dairy stock farming, Sverdlovsk Region Government's Press Service & Information Department reports.

'Supporting the agriculture is a crucial factor in the stable performance of this industry and in making sure the locals are provided with locally produced foods. I think it is a great achievement that despite budget cuts, the government not only kept the same financing volumes but actually increased the subsidies,' says Sverdlovsk Region Agriculture & Foods Minister Mikhail Kopytov.

At the moment, Sverdlovsk Region dairy farmers get 3 rubles in terms of subsidies for every liter of milk they produce (the figure is 3.50 RUR in the northern parts of the constituency).
