October 31, 2013. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) successfully underwent witness audits of its quality management system. The system was inspected for compliance with the ISO 9001:2008, ISO/TU 16949:2009, and STO GAZPROM 9001:2006 international standards, MMK reports.

For five days, a committee of auditors from the international certification body TUV NORD CERT and from OOO Paritet conducted an inspection of how the quality management system processes worked at MMK. The audit involved nearly all of the enterprise’s structural divisions and services.

During the final meeting, Mr. Klobasa, lead auditor at TUV NORD CERT, pointed out that the committee found no deviation from the standards whatsoever. He commented on the great skills of staff and the descriptiveness of the internal audit reports. The auditors also praised the active use of electronic information systems and the recent setting up of a customer tech support group that helps to assess the customers’ needs better. Lead auditor for STO GAZPROM 9001:2006 Sergey Bulanov emphasized that MMK’s use of diverse (including statistical) instruments for its QMS deserves to be brought into the limelight and advertized as the model one.
