STM presents new family of diesel engines

October 16, 2013. Sinara Transport Machines presented a new family of diesel engines DM 185 at the 5th Ural Mining Industry Forum, the company's press service reports.

The conference was dedicated to mining vehicles; experts from UDMZ (Ural Diesel Engine Plant, a member of Sinara Transport Machines) made a presentation on their new family of DM 185 diesel engines with the capacity of 750 to 4,600 kilowatts. The engines were designed by the plant for further use in the mining vehicles. After the business agenda of the forum was over, a tour of UDMZ was organized for the representatives of Russia's largest mining companies and mining vehicle manufacturers: UMMC Holding, BelAZ, Poltavsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise,.Uralasbest, and the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Mining Institute.

The manger of UDMZ Diesel Manufacturing Project Alexei Bozhenov informed the tour participants that the design work relating to the development of the DM 185 diesel engine range (performed within the framework of the purpose-based Diesel Manufacturing federal program and Sinara Transport Machines investment program) was completed. The plant is now busy tuning the diesel onto the single-cylinder unit. Before the end of the year, the results of the technical tests will be presented, and the construction of the prototype will begin based on these results.

Visitors to the forum were also able to see the single-cylinder unit at work.
