May 29, 2013. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) is mastering the production of new goods for the major oil and gas projects, MMK Domestic Sales Director Nikolai Anashkov said at the 3d All-Russian conference on the production and sales of steel pipes in 2013 in Volzhskiy.
The company representative made a report on the current rolled metal goods market situation and spoke about MMK’s new offers for the pipe industry. According to Anashkov, given the current market situation, metallurgical enterprises should build up on their cooperation with the pipe manufacturers and master new kinds of produce that the consumers need. MMK, in fact, makes these kinds of efforts on a regular basis. In 2012 and the first quarter of 2013, for example, a lot of new kinds of products were launched that expanded the make and size range of rolled metal goods produced for the pipe industry.
For one, the company can now make hot-rolled metal sheets that will be used for major O&G projects such as the Power of Siberia, Nord Stream 3, and South Stream. Besides, the company has already supplied some hot-rolled stock made at its Mill 5000 (strength grade X80) for the Central Asia-China 3 Project.
