May 23, 2013. A letter of thanks was sent to Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Yakob to express Google’s gratitude for helping organize a panoramic shooting session for the Street View project last year.

The letter, a copy of which was offered to UrBC, says that Google is planning to go on mapping Russian cities and to have more panoramic shoots in Yekaterinburg.

‘Thanks to the project we implemented, today millions of Internet users can take a virtual tour of Yekaterinburg and other places in Sverdlovsk Region and to learn more about the local culture and landmarks as well as to see the city council and the region’s authorities’ efforts to retain their existing cultural and historic heritage,’ the letter says.
