April 29, 2013. The recent annual meeting of Sverdlovsk Region Union of Machine-Building Enterprises was attended by the region’s Vice Premier Alexander Petrov. The Union Chairman Alexei Molotkov reported on the regional machine-building industry’s performance in 2012 and on this sector’s targets and development prospects in 2013, Sverdlovsk Region Government’s Press Service & Information Department reports.
‘The year 2012 was quite successful for the local machine-building sector: the revenues kept going up, as did the shipment volumes. An overwhelming majority of enterprises came back to and even exceeded their pre-recession production figures. All in all, the Union member enterprises shipped over 57m RUR worth of goods to their customers in 2012. Even though the growth rate was actually two times lower than in 2011 and only came to 13.6%, quite a few companies are planning to get back to their 2011 levels and raise their production outputs by 22.5%,’ Molotkov said.
At the same time, the profitability of production has grown less good-looking: in 2011, the machine-building enterprises’ consolidated profits came to 230m RUR, while in 2012, their consolidated loss amounted to 4bn RUR.
