April 18, 2013. ZAO Astais is going to present its fortified multi-purpose KAMAZ-based truck meant for passenger transportation at the 9th International Arms, Military Vehicles, and Ammunition Exhibition Russia Arms EXPO 2013 (RAE 2013); the event is coordinated by Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation, the corporation’s press service reports.

This new vehicle, designed in Naberezhniye Chelny, is fitted with a life support and an anti-killing agent systems that meets Class A Protection requirements (GOST 50963-96), which guarantees that soldiers inside will be safe from a Dragunov sniper rifle or a Kalashnikov assault rifle attack at a distance of 5 to 10 meters.

This MM-501 module is made from AZ steel (an analogue of 44 steel that can sustain at least 5 shots into the area of 30x30mm) and is fitted with bullet-proof windows. There are some round emergency escape hatches on top of the vehicle, which is fit for 14 people. The assembly/dismantling of the platform only takes 30 minutes, the press release says.

The 9th International Arms, Military Vehicles, and Ammunition Exhibition Russia Arms EXPO 2013 (RAE 2013) will be held in Nizhniy Tagil on September 25-28, 2013.
