Uraltransmash to Deliver New Trams to Yekaterinburg

February 22, 2013. The Director-General of Uraltransmash (a member of Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation) Sergey Soloviev and Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg for Strategic Planning, Economic Issues, & Finance Alexander Vysokinsky signed an agreement on setting up some work teams whose task it will be to work together on the development and testing of new tramway makes, Uralvagonzavod’s press service reports.
An off-site meeting dedicated to the issue of producing modern trams in Russia took place in the Western Depot of Yekaterinburg Tramway & Trolley-bus Administration. The meeting was attended by Alexander Vysokinsky, Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg for Urban Development, Transportation & the Environment Yuri Komratov, Uraltransmash DG and Chief Engineer for Civil Goods Division Sergey Soloviev, and employees of the Western Tram Depot.
During the meeting, Uraltransmash presented its 71-407 tram and the 71-403 and 71-405 makes that are currently being used in the city streets.
Some points on the agenda had to do with the options available for renovating the city fleet of trams and upgrading the tram railways in Yekaterinburg. The tram designers and those responsible for their operation and maintenance also presented their reports. In addition, experts on the tram railway-building technologies and on the automated performance machinery spoke at the meeting as well.
