19 February 2013 (09:20)
February 19, 2013. Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation presented its most advanced developments in the field of terrestrial and artillery weapons at IDEX, an international defense exhibition that took off in Abu Dhabi on February 17.
The Russian pavilion’s solemn opening ceremony was conducted by Russia’s Industry & Trade Minister Denis Manturov. He commented on the upgraded T-90C tank and Terminator, a fire support combat vehicle designed by Uralvagonzavod for the combat in an urban setting; the vehicle can boast powerful multiple channel weaponry and strong protection. Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, visited the corporation’s stand as well.
The Russian pavilion at IDEX 2013 is over 1,000sq m big and features approximately 30 well-known Russian arms makers. Uralvagonzavod’s exhibits are presented inside the 80sq m roofed stand and on the 250sq m open-air site. For the first time, any visitor can try and control the Terminator, manipulate the tower and direct the weapon. This is possible due to a module that ensures remote control of all the weaponry that the fire support combat vehicle is fitted with. This is a development by the corporation’s Ural Transport Machine-Building Design Office.
