Yekaterinburg Residents Often Book Hotels Online for New Year Recess

November 26, 2012. People living in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, and Novosibirsk use online hotel booking options for their New Year recess more often than residents of other Russian cities, Interfax refers to Oktogo.ru (the Russian online hotel booking service) as saying.

According to their research findings, about 75% of all the bookings through Oktogo.ru is done by the residents of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. People living in Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, and Novosibirsk are responsible for 15% of all the reservations; Perm, Krasnoyarsk, Kazan, Voronezh, and Samara are also among the top ten cities in terms of popularity of online hotel booking services.

Oktogo.ru says the residents of these cities are so active because the Internet connection is so easily available, online payments are quite popular, and air travel is convenient.

The residents of the Urals often fly to Moscow and Saint Petersburg: about 45% of those booking hotels from Yekaterinburg and about 43% of those booking from Perm are planning to take a look at the capital’s landmarks. The residents of these cities also book hotels in Rome and Nice. Residents of Krasnoyarsk book the hotels located in Turkey: about 40% of Krasnoyarsk travelers go there and 28% travel to Greece.
