Sputnik Hockey Team Holds First Match at Home
1 October 2012 (09:18)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 1, 2012. Sputnik hockey team held its first home match of the Senior Hockey League’s Season of 2012/2013. The Nizhniy Tagil team had the Senior Hockey League first-timers from Kazakhstan, Karaganda-based Saryarka Hockey Club, over on the re-polished ice, Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s press service reports.
Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s HR Director Sergey Saranchuk congratulated the team and the supporters on the start of the season on behalf of the club’s primary sponsor, Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation. He wished many victories to the hockey players and plenty of spectacular games to the supporters.
Indeed, the first match did prove very spectacular and surprising for the fans, who filled the Ice Sports Palace nearly to the brim. They could enjoy the renovated ice, the eye-catching warm-up show featuring some young hockey players and ice-skaters, the cheerleaders’ do, the new mascot of a beaver (Sputnik’s lucky charm), and the free Wi Fi. However, the video broadcast of the game was probably the most significant new thing. Now everything happening on the ice can be followed on an up-to-date video screen, and those hockey lovers who cannot make it to the match and the supporters of teams from other cities can watch the games on the Internet.
‘I’m filled with emotion. Your palace is the gem of the entire league: a beautiful hockey place that one wants to come back to. We don’t have many Ice Palaces like this. I’d like to say a big thank-you to Uralvagonzavod’s management for all this enormous effort, as well as to engineers and workers, who with their own hands put up and repaired all this over such a short period of time. Truly a lot has been done for the team and its supporters, most of whom, I believe, happen to be the plant’s employees. This is a great hockey pitch, with a lot of light and a modern video screen. I think at such a rate, you’ll make it to the Continental Hockey League soon!’ said the Managing Director of Senior Hockey League Herman Skoropupov.
‘You’ve got a wonderful, one-of-a-kind team with rich traditions that manages to surprise us every season and that is performing quite well at the moment, beating all the grand and established teams. Good job! I believe these innovations and improvements will help your beloved team to win again and again. I am also positive that all the improvements in the palace will serve for the further development of hockey in Nizhniy Tagil, will attract even more supporters onto the stands and even more young backyard players onto the ice,’ Skoropupov said regarding Sputnik’s successful start of the championship.
