The construction of the first commercial apartment buildings in Sverdlovsk Region will begin in 2013, Sverdlovsk Region Government’s Press Service & Information Department reports.

‘Early in 2013, a pilot project on the construction of commercial apartment buildings will begin in Sverdlovsk Region. The city council of Kamensk-Uralsky will provide the first location for the buildings. After the apartments in these two economy class buildings have been commissioned, they will be let to specific categories of local residents and to Kamensk-Uralsky businesspeople who are interested in long-term renting of flats to accommodate their employees on fixed-term contracts,’ says Sverdlovsk Region Deputy Construction & Infrastructure Development Minister Viktor Kiselev.

Now Russia’s Regional Development Ministry is currently working on a national program on the construction of commercial apartment buildings. The new housing is expected to solve the problem of citizens on council housing waiting lists; it will also be let to Russian citizens who are moving because of a new job in another city.
