MMK Group Makes New Appointments

MMK Group announces some new appointments: Sergey Ushakov will now become MMK-METIZ Director, Vladimir Lebedev has been appointed Director of Mechanical Repairs Unit, and Sergey Berdnikov was promoted to Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Deputy Director for Capital Construction.

‘MMK management has always been guided by one basic principle when shaping the company’s management potential: professionalism and universal applicability of the managers’ skills and competences. Nowadays, one cannot limit oneself to the narrow professional field of very deep but very local knowledge of processes taking place at a specific production facility or enterprise. Time calls for new challenges and for every manager to get a new, more large-scale vision of business processes. The new appointments all meet these requirements and fit into the trends,’ says MMK Director-General Boris Dubrovsky.

‘This system needs to be integrated into all of MMK Group’s enterprises: this is one of the tasks set for Sergey Ushakov, who will run MMK-METIZ. I am positive that his knowledge of production processes at the plant and the skills acquired during the implementation of our international project in Turkey will help him in reaching the current and future goals of this company. The expertise of Vladimir Lebedev, who ran the metal goods production at a very difficult time and still managed to get the plant to improve its production and financial performance, will be very useful in his new position at Mechanical Repairs Unit. Sergey Berdnikov also has new challenges ahead of him. MMK Board adopted a new concept for the development and launch of a capital construction management system at MMK Group’s enterprises. Appointing Berdnikov, an experienced manager, who used to deal directly with the implementation of MMK’s large-scale investment projects in his previous job, is the first step in the implementation of this concept. I am sure that these high-profile managers’ professionalism, their fresh vision, and new approaches to management will do our business good and will result in improvements in MMK Group’s efficiency,’ Dubrovsky said.
