11 September 2012 (10:22)
The technical design documentation for the direct current electric train ES2G, based on Desiro RUS (Lastochka) modification, was presented at a meeting at All-Russian Scientific Research Railway Transport Institute (VNIIZHT) dedicated to the coordination of electric trains manufacturing at Ural Locomotives (a joint venture belonging to Sinara Group and Siemens AG), Sinara Group’s press service reports.
Ural Locomotives’ designers presented their technical solutions (which give a full idea of the design, application field, assembly and maintenance rules, and repair-ability of the future city express) to experts from Russian Railways and railway institutes.
What is more, the plant representatives talked about the construction of a new production facility meant for the train production, and about the process of choosing some Russian material and component parts suppliers.
‘We are doing audits of potential suppliers at the moment by sending them our technical specifications and analyzing their proposals on the production of equipment and nodes for our electric trains. As soon as by the end of this year, we expect to make our final choice of component parts suppliers for the long-term deliveries, and by 2015, we hope to do 55% of our business in Russia. This is all the more important because in 2014, our company intends to launch the first six electric trains, get them certified, and start supplying them to Russian Railways in 2015,’ says Ural Locomotives DG Alexander Saltayev.
