SinaraHybrid to Take Part in Railway Vehicles Parade

6 September 2012 (09:33)

SinaraHybrid, Sinara Group’s diesel-locomotive shunter with a hybrid power unit TEM9N, will be featured in a parade dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Russian Railways in Moscow Region-based Scherbinka at the end of this week, on September 7-9, 2012. The entire range of vehicles that are used in the railway industry will be presented at the parade, including the rare trains that were built as early as the late 19th and the early 20th centuries.

As for the latest railway vehicles in the parade, one of them is Russia’s first locomotive shunter with smart asynchronous hybrid drive that is now manufactured at Lyudinovsky Locomotive-Building Plant (LTZ).

The loco was designed by STM Innovative Development Center, with funding supplied by the Skolkovo Foundation. The loco is currently being tested for acceptance; starting September 15, it will undergo certification testing on the premises of VNIKTI, a scientific research center. The testing is to be completed by December 20, 2012. The locomotives will be produced on a commercial scale starting from 2013, Sinara Group’s PR Center reports.

President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin and President of Sinara Group Dmitri Pumpyansky signed an agreement of intentions for the development and delivery of SinaraHybrid locos on June 1, 2012.
