The awarding ceremony took place at a conference dedicated to how to fit in the new technological wave; the conference was part of the industry and innovations forum Innoprom 2012. The diploma and the trophy were given to Ural Locomotives BOD Chairman Evgeny Kopein by Head of Sverdlovsk Region Government Denis Pasler.
‘The idea of holding a contest among the region’s industrial enterprises along such criteria as innovations, investment, and production has to be paid special attention to. I congratulate our industrial enterprises which develop their business in this region, enter new markets, and work for the good of Sverdlovsk Region. I am positive that awarding this prize will turn into a great tradition that we’ll keep on supporting,’ Pasler said.
According to BOD Chairman Evgeny Kopein, Ural Locomotives is one of the most dynamically developing enterprises in the region. Since it was set up two years ago, the company has mastered the production of Granit (2ES10), a locomotive with an asynchronous hybrid drive that is unique to 1520 area and started working on the freight AC loco 2ES7 and the first version of an electric train called Desiro RUS (ES2G).
‘Production upgrades and design and launch of innovational products are our company’s main comparative advantages. Over the last year alone, we set up a second assembly line that increased the plant’s capacity dramatically and started working on the new production facility for Desiro RUS trains. This facility will have the most advanced equipment available. I feel that not only Russian companies but also many European ones can envy this development dynamics,’ Kopein said.
