Austria To Keep Economic Ties with Yekaterinburg

Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Yakob and representatives of the City Council PR Committee met with the delegates from the Republic of Austria, the spokesperson for Yekaterinburg Council reports.

Among the foreign officials were the Manager CIS of Federal House of Austrian Economy Heinz Walter and Dietmar Fellner, Commercial Counsellor at the Austrian Embassy.

The parties greeted one another, after which Alexander Yakob made a presentation on Yekaterinburg’s socioeconomic development to the Austrian delegates.

The foreign partners arrived in the Urals’ capital with a great economic mission for the development of a partnership between Austria and Yekaterinburg in mind.

The parties exchanged souvenirs and presents and agreed on further cooperation.

‘Yekaterinburg and Austria have a long history of cooperating at the new stage of Russia’s development. About 20 Austrian industrial enterprises have been operating in Yekaterinburg for many years now. An honorary consulate of Austria was opened in 2006,’ says Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Yakob.

‘It is not only through the industrial ties that Austria and Yekaterinburg are linked together. An Austrian Library is now open at the Mayor’s Library. The third Vienna Musical Festival was opened yesterday. Yekaterinburg is the only Russian city to host such a festival. We have very much in common, and we are ready for further cooperation,’ Yakob added.
