International Airport Association Set up in Yekaterinburg

The International Airport Association (MAA) has been set up in Yekaterinburg. An agreement to this effect was signed during the aviation forum Routes CIS 2012 that was held in the Urals’ capital. The association was founded by the representatives of Yekaterinburg-based Koltsovo Airport, Moscow-based Vnukovo Airport, and Novosibirsk-based Tolmachevo Airport, Kommersant reports.

The documentation needed to set up the association took about two years to prepare.

The association founders announced that the association would later be converted into a self-regulatory organization. This means some of the airport industry regulatory functions that are now performed by the state might be handed over to the organization.

The airport representatives also said they hoped the organization members would take a more proactive part in the drawing up of the Airport and Airport Activity Act and other normative acts.
