UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 27, 2012. EXPO 2020 Yekaterinburg Application Committee launched its EXPO 2020 Ambassador project recently. This means domestically and internationally recognized representatives of the artistic, cultural, political, business, and educational communities will be supporting Yekaterinburg’s campaign for hosting EXPO in 2020.
The ‘Application Ambassador’ is a voluntary and non-profit status. The ambassadors will mainly have to spread the ideas and the values of the universal fairs in general and of EXPO 2020 Yekaterinburg Project in particular. This year, over thirty Russians from various backgrounds will become the ambassadors for the project, including some well-known Yekaterinburg dwellers who take part in the city’s life as well as in the numerous cultural, business, and political events in Russia and abroad.
Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) BOD Chairman and President of Sverdlovsk Region Union of Industrialists & Entrepreneurs Dmitri Pumpyansky, Director of the National Center for Contemporary Arts’ Yekaterinburg division Alissa Prudnikova, Rector of Ural Federal University Viktor Koksharov, and Rector of Ural State University of Economics Mikhail Fedorov will become some of the application’s first ambassadors.
‘We believe in EXPO 2020 application, which is a strategically important project for businesses and dwellers of Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk Region. It is only through joining the efforts of people coming from very diverse regional and nation-wide communities in promoting the application that we can hope to win,’ Pumpyansky said regarding the proposal to become the ambassador for the project.
