Sverdlovsk Region public prosecution authorities for transportation and the state inspector from the interregional electricity- and energy-generating equipment surveillance department checked Koltsovo Airport of Yekaterinburg for compliance with the legislation that regulates issues relating to operation, maintenance and repairs of electricity-generating units at the airport. The inspection had to do with the short circuit failure in Terminal A security check lounge on January 12, 2011.

It was detected that the circuit failure had been caused by a violation of the rules set for technical operation of consumer electricity-generating units, the spokesperson for the public prosecution authorities reports.

The violations detected in the course of the inspection resulted in Sverdlovsk Region public prosecutor for transportation instituting administrative proceedings against Koltsovo Airport, with charges based on Article 9.11 of the Russian Federation Administrative Offense Code (violation of fuel and energy use regulations and violation of rules relating to structure, storage, maintenance, sale and transportation of energy resources, fuel and fuel products). Consequently, the legal entity had to face administrative liability and pay a 10,000 RUR fine.
