Yekaterinburg Council: VIZ Sounds Like the Best Place for EXPO Park

16 March 2012 (10:38)

Secretary-General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Vicente G. Loscertales will take a look at the site of Ural International Industry & Innovations Exhibition/Forum Innoprom in the course of his visit to Yekaterinburg, the city council reports.

The official is to arrive in Yekaterinburg this Saturday.

In the course of his visit, Loscertales is to meet the top officials of Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk Region and representatives of the national application committee; the meeting will be dedicated to Yekaterinburg’s prospects of hosting the world universal fair and to discussing the possible choices for locating EXPO Park’s site.

According to the city council, experts believe that VIZ-Pravoberezhny location in Yekaterinburg’s Verkh-Isetsky District is the most promising place from the standpoint of space organization and further use of the place.

‘Not only does this site meet all the requirements for EXPO Park’s potential hosting place, but it is also located right within the city, which means the infrastructure and the buildings for the exhibition can be effectively used after the fair is over. The multi-faceted development of VIZ-Pravoberezhny location is already part of the city’s strategic development plan, and once EXPO has come to an end, the local dwellers will be able to enjoy the new cultural and business centers, recreational areas, and shopping and entertainment centers,’ the city council says.
