10 February 2012 (09:20)
The reconstruction of the airfield at Yekaterinburg-based Koltsovo International Airport is expected to start in May 2012 and to be over in 2014.
Over 3bn RUR has been allocated from the federal budget to complete the project.
Among the jobs that need to be done are the restoration of the drainage facilities, expansion of the airfield apron, building more parking lots, construction of spots where aircraft can be treated with the anti-icing fluid and getting them fitted with all the necessary equipment, and building a patrol road along the inside perimeter of the airfield.
Koltsovo Airport reports the construction process is not going to affect the airport’s performance, the regularity of flights, or the comfort and safety of the passengers.
